2003-08-20Ummm..Message to hollywood, Lesbians are lesbians because they are attracted to WOMEN not because they haven't found the right man yet.
Yes I do know that some women who previously indentified as lesbians have fallen in love with men before (there was an interesting article on it in Bitch Magazine issue # 18) and yes I agree it can happen, but in movies it happens all the time. It's not even the fact that a lesbian charecter falls in love with a man, but rather the attitude that seems to go with it, that a woman could not possibly have a solid and meaningful longterm relationship with another woman. That what she really needs is a good man.
I guess I need to watch some movies with a solid lesbian couple in it. Not two women experimenting but a normal happy couple.
One of the few places I've actually seen a lesbian couple potrayed in a realistic and loving manner was on "Buffy the vampire slayer" on Tv.
Don't even get me started on TATU or the way gay men are potrayed in the media...........
